Kollur which is the closest to Kodachadri is the best spot to reach the Hill. You can easily get to Kollur from Bangalore or Shimoga. From Kollur you can visit Nagoda Village which is situated at the base of the peak.

The Alternate route will be to travel overnight to  Nittur, you can book a flight to Bangalore or Mangalore then book a cab and travel to Nittur or you can board a train from KundaPura Railway Station and travel via cab to Nittur. The trek is a 12 KM route from Nittur to Kodachadri gate.

The trek takes around 8 to 10 hours(almost a day) to complete. But after completing the journey you will be amazed by its beauty. The best time to be here is after monsoon which is from October to May as the weather is pleasant and you will be able to enjoy each part of the Peak.

It is believed that Sage Adi Shankar used to Meditate on this Peak’s top. To acknowledge and commemorate this  Sarvajna Peetha was built.further into the trek you can visit Ganesh Guha which is an ancient stone temple of Lord Ganesha built inside a cave surrounded by lots of mysteries. You can get a glimpse of Lord Ganesha’s Statue inside the Cave also.

The most hidden yet most beautiful place is Hidlumane Waterfall which is 5 km away from the Kodachadri trek, is hidden in the center of a vast forest reserve that will be very helpful in recharging your battery as you take a dip in its purest waterfall, all your tired and exhaustion will vanish.

As you make it to the top of The Hill you can witness the golden moment of sunset or sunrise depending on your time of journey. In clear weather, you can get a glimpse of the mighty Arabian Sea.

Things to consider before going to Kodachadri:

Our suggestion is to hire a local guide, an experienced trekking unit to guide you through the adventure.

If you are unsure or nervous about trekking, rent a 4X4 jeep as there are many professionals to take you to the top of the hill. The muddy route through the jungle is infested with Leeches, so protective footwear and trekking trousers are a must for the journey.

The dense forest is a habitat for many species of poisonous snakes so ankle-length footwear is more protective than normal shoes.

Pack first aid and necessary meds, as the amenities throughout the trekking are basic. So carrying enough water and Snacks is a must for the journey. Carrying torches and insect repellent is a must. The route passes through a wild reserve, so maintaining silence and keeping littering to the minimum is safe. Carry only essential things and travel light to avoid unwanted exhaustion.
